DRIVING CLASSES
Class 3 Open Driving. This is judged by a BDS judge
To bring this driving class closer in line with the standards set by the British Driving Society (recognised as the worldwide authority on the driving horse and pony) we will be discouraging the use of either Sidechecks or Overchecks . Young Drivers are recommended to have a competent groom either to ride on board or be present in the ring .To ensure safe breaking , breeching would be advisable on all but the smallest & lightest carriage
Class 4 & 5
Pleasure Driving. This is judged by an AMHA judge. ( full AMHA rules available on request—but a guide is given below) . Country Pleasure Open to horses hitched to a 2 wheeled vehicle. To be judged on Attitude , Manners , performance , quality & conformation IN THAT ORDER. Horses should be on the bridle with a light contact maintained with relaxed head carriage. High action will be penalised. It is imperative that the horse gives the impression of being a pleasure to drive. A responsive mouth is paramount and all gaits to be performed with willingness , ease , cadence , balance & smoothness. Gaits required will be Walk , Pleasure trot ( relaxed & easy going) Working Trot ( lengthening stride) Horses will be required to stand quietly & back readily
Single Pleasure .Contact should be maintained on reins at all time. Horses should give the appearance of a pleasurable drive & although animated should not show high knee action.. To be judged on Quality of performance, manners , way of going , conformation , appropriateness , condition & fit of cart & harness & neatness of attire IN THAT ORDER. Gaits required Walk , Collected trot , Working trot. Horses will be required to stand quietly & back readily
AMERICAN SHOWMANSHIP INSTRUCTIONS ( class 14)
Walk to the judge in a straight line. Stop & stand in front of the judge . Upon acknowledgement from the judge , do a 180 degree turn. All turns to be to the right. Trot in a straight line past the line up & stop. Do a 180 degree turn , Walk horse forwards to exact spot in the line up , where you first started & stand up your horse.

Affiliated to the British Miniature Horse Society (BMHS), all classes will be run under their rules. Only horses registered with the BMHS may enter, with the exception of class 21 (open). Owners, exhibitors and handlers must be current members & pay the appropriate BMHS 2009 Showing Levy. Horses to report for measuring half an hour prior to classes. The classes are run under the rules of the Miniature Horse Club of Great Britain, a copy of the rules can be obtained from The President, MHCGB, Newclose Farm, Calf Fallow Lane, Norton, Stockton on Tees TS20 1PQ. Open to MHCGB Members Only.
This show is a qualifier for MHCGB Grand Championship and AMHA Horse of 2009 Championship Show held at Moulton College, Northampton on 12th September 2009 . 1st to 3rd place to qualify.

RULES please read carefully
Entry FEES £7 per horse per class .£8.50 for AMHA classes Entry fees are NOT REFUNDABLE & NOT TRANSFERRABLE unless the show is cancelled. Any one cancelling a cheque , or having a cheque returned unpaid from the bank will not be allowed to compete until all outstanding fees are paid. Persistent trouble causers will be banned from showing at the show at the organisers discretion.
CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES is 18th July. Late entries are accepted at double fee . COLLECT YOUR NUMBERS ON THE DAY . No receipt will be sent unless an SAE is enclosed
Please read each section for height rules. Please measure your animals to the TOP OF THE WITHER. Except AMHA classes which is to the last hair at base of wither. Horses MUST be 34” & under or 42” & under AT MATURITY. Horse will be measured for BMHS & AMHA classes. Other horses MAY be measured if requested. Yearlings should not exceed 32” , 2yrs not to exceed 33” , 3 yrs not to exceed 34” for miniature classes
The judges decision is FINAL. Any objections must be made in writing within 30 mins of the class / incident finishing & handed to the secretary with a deposit of £25.
Every exhibitor is responsible for the correctness of entry forms. Please fill in ALL sections of the form or they could be returned to you. No substitute entries

Classes may be divided , amalgamated or cancelled or moved depending on the number of entries.
All animals MUST be under control at all times.
Any animal showing signs of disease will be asked to leave the show ground.
BREED SOCIETY RULES apply in each breed section. Contact the breed societies if you required a copy of their rules.
Foals must be at least 1 month old on show day. Weaned foals may only be shown if they are OVER 5 months old, otherwise mare must accompany their foals in the ring. Mares with foals at foot must be 4yrs old & over. USE OF CHAINS ON FOALS is discouraged
No entries or stabling accepted unless accompanied by the correct fees.
The Show secretary MAY request copies of breed society registration documents , if you are entering on the day please bring registration documents with you. AMHA classes MUST send a copy of both sides of the registration & a Vets declaration that a Stallion 3yrs old or over has 2 testicles
Owners are responsible for all vets , doctors fees etc. incurred at the show ground.
THE COMMITTEE & SHOW OFFICIALS ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY LOSS, INJURY OR DAMAGE TO ANY PERSON OR THEIR PROPERTY whilst on the show ground , car parks or approaches. Entries are taken as acceptance of these conditions.
Please have public liability insurance.
The show cannot be held responsible for errors in the catalogue or schedule.
Dogs to be kept on leads at all times.
Spectators & cars admitted free. Please leave the show ground tidy.
RIDING HATS of approved standard MUST be worn at all times when mounted. With chin strap fastened. Children under 16 yrs MUST wear a hard hat whilst jumping & it is advised in the obstacle classes
TRADE STAND space is FREE at the show but must be pre-booked.
Please conduct yourselves in a courteous manner. Any abuse to person or animal at the show will not be tolerated & the culprit will be asked to leave the showground. PLEASE USE CHAINS ON SHOW HALTERS WITH CARE. DO NOT tie horses to the ring side & leave them unattended.
Every effort will be made to wait for an exhibit whose classes clash. But it is the exhibitors responsibility to INFORM THE RING STEWARD & SHOW SECRETARY that you should be in a specific class. Please bring sufficient handlers with you as we cannot wait for handlers
STABLING Is available on the showground at £15 per stable for the weekend—Friday to Monday if required. STABLING IS LIMITED . Please let us know arrival date & approx time . Unfortunately we cannot get any temporary stables this year . We will be using nearby yards as overflow. Straw bedding is provided. We will endeavour to stable as many horses on the showground as possible & will be using field shelters. You may pen your horses safely at the side of your horsebox. We have penning available in barns if required @ £5 per pen—please phone me to discuss this option . If you required SHAVINGS , please bring your own or can be purchased if pre booked at a price of £6 per bag.
Please muck stables out if you have time as this will help us to keep the stabling costs to a minimum .
STABLES WILL ONLY BE RESERVED IF FULL FEE IS PAID. Strictly NO telephone reservations accepted. .
Camping welcome, free of charge. Toilets & Caterer on site.
STABLES ARE LOCKED at 10 pm to 6am for security if you expect to arrive after this time you MUST inform the secretary or you will not gain access to your stables.
